The contributions of public libraries to our democracy, our formal education, our lifelong learning, and our information-driven society may be too numerous to list. The mission of the Cedar Rapids Public Library embraces their role in the community despite being flooded in 2008. The library offers a spectrum of information to the community. The City of Cedar Rapids made residing the downtown library a priority after the flood, the new $45 million facility will sit across from Greene Square Park and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.
